Building Developmental Assets in School Communities. This workshop will introduce the Developmental Asset framework and describe the connection to student achievement, show how to build assets for every student, and empower educators to initiate, increase, and strengthen the asset-building efforts that already exist in their school.

Keep Connected: Engage Families by Strengthening Relationships. Keep Connected is a research-based program that gives parents and youth an opportunity to learn about keys to positive family relationships during the transition to adolescence. It engages families through a 6-part program which strengthens family relationships The Keep Connected Institute teaches schools and other parent-facing organizations how to lead Keep Connected at their location.

 

The Developmental Relationships Workshop. This workshop introduces the five core components of the Developmental Relationships Framework. Participants will learn practical ways to put these concepts into practice while strengthening motivation, persistence, and other skills that are essential for success in school and beyond.

Strengthening Family Relationships: A Workshop for Parenting Adults. In this workshop for parenting adults, participants will learn to identify and celebrate the strengths in their families, and focus on intentional strategies for growing other strengths based on their priorities.

Engaging Families: A Relationships-Based Approach. This workshop is for youth-serving organizations that work with parents and other family members. Participants will be introduced to a research-based approach that builds on family strengths.

Essentials of Asset Building for Trainers and Facilitators. This two-day workshop will train up to 30 participants to effectively present two of Search Institutes’ foundational workshops: Everyone’s an Asset Builder and Sharing the Asset Message. Participants leave the workshop ready to equip and support individuals, organizations, institutions and their entire communities in building Developmental Assets.

Everyone’s an Asset Builder. This workshop introduces participants to Search Institute’s internationally-recognized research on the strengths and supports that enable young people to thrive. The workshop examines the power of individuals in shaping the lives of youth and the central role of relationships in building the Developmental Assets that all young people need.

Harnessing the Power of the Faith Community. Based on Search Institute’s research on the role of the faith community in the lives of youth, this workshop introduces the Developmental Assets Framework as a tool for strengthening youth programs, energizing work with families, harnessing the power of individuals, and building bridges to youth-serving efforts across the community.

Igniting Sparks. This workshop teaches participants how to help young people discover and develop their “sparks,” the interests and passions they have within them that light a fire in their lives and express the essence of who they are and what they offer to the world. The workshop is based on Search Institute research that indicates that helping young people identify their sparks and providing opportunities to pursue and develop those sparks contribute to positive academic and behavioral outcomes.

Strengthening Student MotivationBuilding Success in School and Beyond with the REACH Framework REACH is a relationships based approach to student motivation. The REACH Framework provides tools to measure and improve academic motivation. It measures and engages social and emotional factors such as Relationships, Effort, Aspirations, Cognition, and Heart along with other key variables that affect students motivation and engagement. We offer workshops and professional development sessions that teach how to use the REACH framework in a classroom or school-wide setting.

What’s Up with Our Kids? This one- or two-hour workshop is for organizations that have administered a Search Institute student survey. A Search Institute expert shares the survey results and helps participants use data to animate action.

Youth and Program Strengths Workshops. A high quality out-of-school time (OST) program offers young people support, guidance, and opportunities to be their best selves. Whether a program’s goal is school success, health or fitness related, community involvement, or some other outcome, these interactive workshops will help participants understand what’s working in their programs and what improvements can be made.

Youth Lead. This workshop is for middle and high school students. Students will be empowered to see themselves as leaders, recognize the leadership skills that they have and could develop, and use those skills to improve their schools, programs, and communities.
