Kids' Money Management Workshops

Search Institute has partnered with Capital One to create an in-person workshop curriculum to help parenting adults, children, and teens examine a variety of money topics to teach kids money management.

Additional workshops (and Spanish-language versions) are also available.

"Talk Well" Workshops

Talking well is about communicating about money honestly and in a caring way with the people around us. When parenting adults and young people talk about money well, they can work through conflicts and differences, build stronger relationships, and create stronger families.

"Budget Well” Workshops

A budget is a way to keep track of your money. It helps to ensure that the amount we spend doesn’t exceed the amount we earn. It helps be more intentional in the choices families. A budget helps parenting adults, children, and youth understand and be more intentional in the choices they make with money. Setting a budget is often an important first step toward financial fitness.

Earning is how we receive money by being paid for our labor or our products. Work can enrich our lives when we’re earning money in ways that give us a sense of accomplishment and meaning.

Spending is how we use money to pay for goods and services. When parents, children, and teens spend well, they make thoughtful choices about how we use our money to meet needs and live out their values. They become savvy consumers.

"Give Well" Workshops

Giving money is a way families express their values and generosity by helping individuals and causes that help people in need and create a better world. "Save Well” Workshops

Saving is putting money aside to use at a later date. When we save well, we have money for special things (such as vacations or a major purchase) and for unexpected situations (such as a car needing a repair or a job loss).
