A Training Program for Youth and Adults Together
Today’s young people are bombarded with messages about money. How can school, congregations, youth-serving organizations, and other help young people sort out those message—particularly when it can be so uncomfortable to talk about money? Through this workshop, youth and adults will explore together the mixed messages about money and learn how to have open dialogue about this challenging topic.
Participants in the workshop will
- increase their consciousness of the messages about money that bombard today’s young people;
- recognize the powerful opportunity to contribute to young people’s healthy development by addressing financial responsibility from an asset-building perspective;
- experience the power of open dialogue across generations about this challenging topic;
- acquire insights, ideas, and tools to guide young people to make money choices based less on what they want to possess and more on what they value and believe;
- identify opportunities within their school, congregations, and youth organizations to encourage young people to be responsible in spending, saving, and giving money.
Who Should Attend: Educators, youth workers, congregational leaders, youth, and community builders from all sectors who seek to address financial responsibility for youth from an asset-building perspective.
