A Training Program for Youth and Adults Together
Engaging young people as active leaders and partners is a core principle of asset building. But how do you do it effectively? Through this workshop, adults and youth will learn together how to use an asset-building approach to tap into young people’s energy, creativity, and commitment for their school, youth organization, congregation, or community.
Participants in this intergenerational workshop will
- expand their understanding of the diverse leadership roles available for young people;
- assess how their organization or community already engages young people as leaders;
- gain practical ideas for strengthening youth leadership through asset building in their organization or community;
- create strategies for strengthening youth leadership through organizational and personal action.
Who Should Attend: Educators, youth workers, congregational leaders, youth, and community builders who seek to strengthen their asset-building and youth leadership efforts. The workshop is designed for multi-sector, intergenerational audiences. It can also be presented within a single sector, such as education.
Length: 4 hours
Recommended Materials for Each Participant: An Asset Builder’s Guide to Youth Leadership, The Asset Approach booklet, and the 150 Ways to Show Kids You Care mini-poster.
“This training blew me away – it made me want to be part of the solution.”
