What's Up with Our Kids?: A Presentation of Your Community's Survey Data

This presentation builds a shared understanding of young people’s strengths and needs in your community based on findings from Search Institute’s Profiles of Student Life: Attitudes and Behaviors or Me & My World survey. The presenter will provide and suggest possible interpretation of the survey data and point toward concrete actions your community can use to help build on its strengths. This presentation will help attendees

  • understand the concept of Developmental Assets;
  • understand their survey results and implications for the community;
  • apply the survey results to their own experiences and perceptions;
  • accept the challenge of sharing the survey results and their implications for asset building with other members of the community.

Who Should Attend: Communities whose youth have completed Search Institute’s Profiles of Student Life: Attitudes and Behaviors or Me & My World survey. Community leaders, educators, religious leaders, parents, youth, businesses, law enforcement personnel, youth workers, and others interested in children and youth in their community are encourage to attend.

Length: 1-1/2 to 2 hours.

Recommended Materials for Each Participant: The Asset Approach booklet and 150 Ways to Show Kids You Care mini-poster. The local coordinator will receive a copy of the book Pass It On!: Ready-to-Use Handouts for Asset Builders
