Professional Experience and Background

Doug Pederson has worked for 23 years in the nonprofit sector in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Throughout his career he has developed and supported programs for youth, adults, and Aboriginal groups.

As Regina’s original Asset Champion Doug is the founder of the Alliance of Asset Champions and the HC • HY Regina & Area initiative. Under his leadership the Alliance has gained the support of numerous community-based organizations, school boards, and many levels of government. Provincially he has encouraged people, young and old, to take an interest in the Developmental Assets having delivered and/or organized asset building workshops for over 3,000 people since 2005.

Pederson has been active in coaching for the past 30 years and holds certifications in numerous sports. He has participated at a national level in broomball and field lacrosse as both a player and a coach. He was inducted into the Saskatchewan Broomball Association Hall of Fame, participated in the first World Broomball Championships and is co-author of the Level One Technical Manual for Broomball. He is most proud of the hundreds of local kids he has coached in various sports such as ringette, broomball, soccer, basketball as well as field and box lacrosse.

The proud father of two boys and a girl, Pederson has been married for 25 years. When he is not coaching he loves to sing, especially in his barbershop quartet, Sound Investment.

Contributions to Search Institute

Pederson has worked tirelessly to promote the Developmental Assets in Regina and across the province of Saskatchewan for the past four years. As the former Chair of the Alliance of Asset Champions, Pederson actively engages individuals and agencies to unite with a common vision; an asset rich community where all youth are valued and thrive. Recent workshops for various government agencies have resulted in widespread interest in many new areas across the province.
