More than Just a Place to Go: Using Developmental Assets to Strengthen Your Youth Program

This training will help participants identify how assets can be applied in youth-serving program planning and assessment, learn how the assets reflect national standards for out-of-school programs and how to use the framework to build in quality to better support the youth they serve while also accomplishing program goals.

As a result of this training participants will

  • become familiar with Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets framework;
  • identify how assets can be used as a lens for higher-quality program planning and assessment;
  • review how Developmental Assets reflect current national standards for out-of-school programs;
  • examine their own program and identify ways in which it currently builds assets and areas in which assets might be more intentionally infused;
  • determine priorities for infusing assets more fully into their program;
  • commit to a personal asset-building action they will implement within their program.

Who Should Attend: Teams or individuals working in out-of-school programming and interested in applying the 40 Developmental Assets in planning and assessment.

Length: 7-1/2 hours (includes lunch and breaks)
