Introducing Developmental Assets

A Presentation on the 40 Developmental Assets All Kids Need to Succeed

This presentation introduces Search Institute’s asset-building message to communities and organizations, inspiring future commitment and action toward creating healthy communities for youth. This presentation will help participants

  • understand the concept of Developmental Assets as it contrasts with the more common problem-focused approach;
  • understand the Developmental Assets, including why they are important and how others are using them;
  • understand and apply the categories of Developmental Assets to their own experiences and perceptions;
  • learn from stories and concrete examples of community-based asset building and consider how to apply them to their own efforts;
  • accept the challenge of carrying the asset-building approach into their professional and/or personal life.

Who Should Attend: Anyone Interested in children and youth in their community, including community and religious leaders, educators, parents, youth, business representatives, law enforcement personnel, and other youth workers. No prior knowledge of the Developmental Assets framework is needed.

Length: 1-2 hours
