Professional Overview
As Search Institute’s Vice President of Operations and Communication , Tim Showalter-Loch builds relationships with key Search Institute partners in the business, social, and public sectors. He also helps develop overall business strategy for the organization. His responsibilities include direction of corporate development and partnerships, strategic communications, and public policy initiatives.
Tim’s extensive experience includes leadership roles in other corporate settings as well as positions in nonprofit, government, communications consulting, and higher education. He has done program and policy work in municipal, state and federal government offices, and provided strategic marketing and communications and research services to a range of private foundation and corporate clients. He currently serves on the National Youth Leadership Council Board of Directors and Genesys Works Twin Cities Board of Directors, and contributes his skills to several other state, government and community committees and task forces.
Professional History
Prior to Search, Tim was Senior Manager of Community Relations at Best Buy, Inc., where he developed and managed charitable giving and community engagement strategies for the $50 billion multi-national corporation. He ran programs across the country, including local and national initiatives for the Best Buy Children’s Foundation, and was responsible for executing the company’s philanthropic initiative, @15, which focused on teens and their positive development.
Interests and Education
Tim has traveled widely in the Middle East and Africa and earned his M.A. in Political Philosophy and American Government at the University of Maryland, College Park.
