In choosing those adults we should ask (our children) the following questions: 1. Who are the adults who truly care about you? 2. Who are the adults who expect more of you than you expect of yourself? 3. Who are the adults who believe in you more than you believe in yourself? Read the full article >

11-23-2011A Special Message from Gene Roehlkepartain, Acting President and CEO, Search Institute

“We at Search Institute are spending a lot of time reflecting on what it means to continue and build on Peter’s legacy. It’s clear to me that the answer to that question is not to try to replicate what he did. Rather, I think Peter would want us to recommit to the vision of a world where all young people are valued and thrive—the vision that motivated us to come to Search Institute in the first place. Then he would ask us each to pay attention to our own sparks, passions, and lives to discover what we might do next that is authentic to who we are as scholars, advocates, family members, colleagues, and citizens in a dynamic and ever-changing world.” —Eugene C.
