Search Institute Cancellation, Return, and Refund Policies



  • Registration is not complete and your seat secured until billing has been arranged. If you are paying by Purchase Order, and your organization is tax exempt, please fax/email a copy of the Purchase Order and Exemption Certificate along with your registration materials. We must have a copy of the exemption certificate on file, and cannot process your registration without it.
  • Registration for an open enrollment workshop is complete upon receipt of payment via credit card or receipt of a purchase order number.
  • Fees are not refunded for participant cancellations received less than 30 days prior to the workshop.
  • Refunds will be made to registered participants if Search Institute cancels the workshop.
  • Refunds will not be made to participants who do not show up for the workshops.
  • If you cancel 30 days or more before the workshop, contact Mary Shrader at 612-692-5526 to arrange a refund, less a $45 cancellation fee.
  • If you wish to substitute another person, please edit your registration online or contact Mary Shrader, at Search Institute. There is no charge to substitute another registrant.
  • If you wish to transfer your registration to another event date, please contact Mary Shrader. Please note there will be a $45 transfer fee.

Online Surveys

  • Online survey administrations that are cancelled completely will be refunded in total minus a $100 administration fee and must be initiated within 30 days of the order date.


  • All returns must be in saleable condition and returned within 30 days to receive credit. Kit returns are subject to a $35 restocking and processing fee.

3-Ring Binder Return Policy

  • These materials must be returned within 90 days from purchase.
  • All returned materials must be in their original, unopened, shrink-wrapped packaging.

How to Submit a Product Return

  • Call 1-877-240-7251 for a return authorization number. Write this number on the front of your invoice or packing list and include a copy with your return. Without this number, a 25% restocking fee will be charged. Costs of shipping cannot be refunded.
  • Pack your return and ship to: RETURNS at Search Institute, 3001 Broadway St NE, Suite 310, Minneapolis, MN 55413. We recommend that you return using a shipping method with tracking.
  • Once your return has been received, you will be issued a credit that can be applied towards the future purchase of surveys or publications. Credits will expire in one year from the date of issue. Returns can also be credited in the form of a refund.

Paper Surveys

  • Returned, unopened packages of surveys are accepted within 6 months of the purchase date.
  • Surveys will be refunded at a rate corresponding to the actual amount paid per package of 25, including sub-report costs if applicable. Each package is subject to a restocking fee of $25.
  • All returned survey packages must be in their original shrink-wrapped packaging and the security seals must be intact. Survey packets with broken seals will not be refunded.
  • Survey administrations that are cancelled completely will be refunded in total minus a $300 administration fee. The refund will be issued once all unopened survey packages have been received by Search Institute. Opened survey packages will not be accepted for return. No survey package restocking fee will be charged. If the survey order did not total $300, no refund will be issued.
