Maria's Story DVD-Simple Stories of the Extraordinary Impact of Asset-Building

Two compelling stories from Search Institute rooted in intentional asset-building actions.


Maria's Story is told by Flora Sánchez, Search Institute Senior Trainer, the stories describe two encounters she had witha young woman named Maria across a 14-year span and illustrate how her simple act of engagement transformed both their lives. The DVD also contains a series of discussion questions for individual or group reflection, which encourage viewers to think about how they can reach out to young people in their own lives.
Other bonus features include “Maria’s Song,” performed by Ken Medema at Search Institute’s 2007 Healthy Communities • Healthy Youth Conference , and “50 Ways to Build Healthy Youth,” a collection of asset-building actions set to music.
