Dear Survey Girl,
I work in a facility that focuses primarily on young adults ages 16 to 24. Do you have any surveys for that age range?
Sincerely,
Yearning for Assets
Dear YA,
To obfuscate in the worst way, the answer is yes and no. All of our youth surveys, with the exception of the Me and My World, can be used with youth from ages 11 to 18.
We have two surveys that have adult components to them: the Adult-Youth Engagement (AYE) survey and the Creating a Great Place to Learn (CGPL) survey.
The AYE consists of an adult survey and a youth survey and it measures the perception and the reality of adult-youth relationships in the community. It does not measure 40 Developmental Assets, but does hone in the Support Asset Category and will give you a sense of what adults think they are doing for youth in their community and what adults are actually doing.
The CGPL is meant to be taken in a school setting and consists of a student survey and a staff survey. Again, this survey does not measure the 40 Assets, but emphasizes the Commitment to Learning Asset Category. The student survey measures the school’s learning climate and how safe and supported the students feel in the school. The staff survey measures the work climate of the school.
Obviously, none of these surveys sound like what you are looking for. And, unfortunately, we do not currently have a survey that can be taken with young adults ages 16 to 24. This is an age group where Search Institute has a gap in our research and resources, but is definitely a group we will be pursuing in the near future.
Love,
