Yorkton

The Yorkton Alliance of Asset Champions was formed on February 28, 2008. The Alliance is made up of representatives from 25 various community organizations in the City of Yorkton. The Executive is made up of both adult and youth representatives. The Yorkton Alliance of Asset Champions is committed to building assets with and for youth in the City of Yorkton to ensure that all young people thrive.

Mission Statement
We are a community alliance committed to working together to nurture assets, build strengths, and empower all children and youth in our community. We are committed to developing a community where all adults, children, and youth are valued equally. We will do this by:

• Engaging youth and caring adults as active partners;
• Building champions in our community;
• Cultivating a shared community vision and common language;
• Linking community resources, raising awareness, and building capacity to facilitate community-wide change;
• Developing a dynamic network focused on sustainability;
• Creating a healthy, thriving community.

Assets in Action

Building Developmental Assets across Saskatchewan

Developmental Asset-building is happening all over Saskatchewan, in the past four years, workshops and information sessions have been delivered to well over 4,000 people in the province. Most recently, the Ministry of Health has hosted a training of trainers in the Essentials of Asset Building. As a result, Population Health employees throughout the province are beginning to utilize the model within their regions to improve the lives of citizens of Saskatchewan.MORE

Asset Champion Tree

At the entrance of various Yorkton community events stands a plastic tree. As adults arrive, young people approach them to ask, “When you were my age, was there an adult in your life who made a difference for you?”MORE

Positive Ticketing

The Yorkton Municipal Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Detachment has initiated a Positive Ticketing initiative in partnership with the City of Yorkton and the Yorkton Alliance of Asset Champions.MORE
