The Building a Healthy Community Initiative has been designed to strengthen the YMCA’s focus on building strong kids, strong families, and a healthier, more vibrant community by infusing the 40 Developmental Assets® and the World Health Organization’s Determinants of Health framework into staff and volunteer behavior, program design and implementation, and Association policy. The YMCA wishes to have its programs and services identified as major contributors to building a healthy community with the capacity to advance the healthy lifestyle goals of the individual and increasing Developmental Assets in the lives of children and youth in Kitchener Waterloo. The Y wishes to serve more individuals and families and continue to form partnerships that help our community achieve healthy outcomes.
