Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) is the largest and only annual campaign that celebrates youth service and service-learning. Organized by Youth Service America and its Global Youth Service Network, this event mobilizes millions of young people and organizations around the world to participate in a day of service. This year over 475,700 young people in 100 countries volunteered to participate in at least one of the 4,000 service projects organized for GYSD on April 15-17. Hungary was the winner for the country with the largest number of service projects planned for GYSD, while the State of Minnesota was the winner in the United States, with 175 events. In the Twin Cities, the Minnesota Alliance with Youth organized a GYSD community-service event at the Mall of America on April 17th to honor and mobilize young Minnesotans who serve their communities every day. This four-hour celebration was filled with entertainment, prizes, youth performances, and on-site service projects. To learn more about this and other GYSD projects around the world, click here.
