Gulfport, Harrison County, Mississippi
The Youth Development Organizations along the Gulf Coast immediately went into action following Katrina, despite the loss of infrastructure, capacity, and staffing issues. Today these organizations are still rebuilding as well as addressing the increased needs of our children. The Coalition was born to provide an avenue to share resources, provide training, identify strengths and weaknesses, and increase capacity and funding opportunities to enhance the services we provide in the community and improve the outcomes for our children.
Mission
The Mission of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Youth Development Coalition is to provide leadership, coordinate resources, align policies, and strengthen program collaboration among local youth development organizations that will enhance the ability for children along the Mississippi Gulf Coast to become healthy and productive adults who develop the attitudes, behaviors, competencies, and skills that allow them to succeed as parents, citizens and workers.
