Greece, Monroe County, New York
The Greece Community Assets Initiative is a multisector approach to positive youth development. Our ardent supporters include the Greece Central School District Board of Education, Superintendent Steve Achramovitch and Deputy Superintendent Don Nadolinski, New York State Senator Joseph Robach, Coach Jim Johnson (who coached Jason McElwain, or J-Mac, an autistic youth who eventually won an ESPY Award), Legacy at Park Crescent Senior Independent Living Center, the Town of Greece, Wegmans Corporation, Wilmorite Corporation (the management company of our local shopping mall), the Greece Chamber of Commerce, The University of Rochester, the Fairport Central School District, and the Monroe County Asset Partner Network. Some of our proudest achievements this year have been establishing an Assets Kiosk at the Greece Ridge Mall, creating a 165-member Community Assets Listserve, and delivering four Vision Training Associates events. One of our high schools (Greece Athena High School) has an Assets Team presenting for the third consecutive year at the annual Healthy Communities • Healthy Youth conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
