Bloomington United for Youth (BUY) is a group of community members, both adult and youth, who work to engage the entire community of Bloomington in the positive development of youth. BUY works to spread awareness of the 40 Developmental Assets developed by Search Institute and to help the community keep the five promises to youth developed by the America’s Promise Organization. The promises are “Caring Adults,” “Safe Places,” “Healthy Start,” “Effective Education,” and “Opportunities to Help Others.” Bloomington United for Youth recognized youth who took the “Opportunities to Help Others” promise to heart and volunteered in the community, and the adults in the community who have fulfilled the “Caring Adults” promise.
