How is Search Insitute involved in Ready by 21?
Founded by The Forum for Youth Investment, Ready by 21 is a top-down approach to tackling the issue of readying our young people for college, work, and life. “The Ready by 21 Challenge is a call to action for leaders to think differently, act differently, and act together,” according to the Ready by 21 Web site.

“The Ready by 21 approach brings together leaders from across a community and offers proven frameworks, tools, and coaching to engage these leaders where they are—building on their current initiatives and resources—and equipping them to think and act differently to improve outcomes for children and youth.”
As a Ready by 21 national mobilization partner, Search Institute combines its experience and expertise with a coalition of national organizations in the education, government, nonprofit, business, and philanthropy sectors. Along with an impressive list of technical partners, these partner organizations provide community leaders with the tools and resources they need to create a community atmosphere that prepares young people for the real world.
What is the Ready by 21 approach?
This month, the Asset Champion will take an in-depth look at Ready by 21 by profiling two of the technical partners, nFocus and the David P. Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality, and the work they do in communities across the nation. This edition also features the long-time asset building community of Hampton, Virginia, which has agreed to take on the Ready by 21 Challenge.
