State Coordinator: Sally Rue
The Alaska Initiative for Community Engagement (Alaska ICE)
is a statewide initiative focused on introducing assets and helping kids succeed by enlisting adults and Alaskan communities in providing positive support to and opportunities for youth. Serving as the youth advocacy arm of the Association of Alaska School Boards since 2001, Alaska ICE works to give Alaskans at the local level the information, tools, and
assistance to work together and engage in the shared responsibility of preparing Alaska’s youth for the future. Alaska ICE and its diverse partners have created a growing web of statewide and local asset-building partners and community engagement initiatives that are focused on supporting young people’s success in school and in life. The Alaska ICE 2008 Progress Report describes the many partners, activities, and success stories from around Alaska that show the practical application of and outcomes from asset building.
