Dear Survey Girl

Hi Survey Girl,

Is the Developmental Assets Profile (DAP) appropriate in a juvenile justice setting?

Sincerely,
Just Understanding Variances in Engagement

Dear JUVIE,

Like any of our surveys, the appropriateness depends on what things you’d like to measure or what data you’d like to yield. The DAP measures the Eight Asset Categories, so if you are framing your program or efforts with the Developmental Assets, you can use the DAP to either get initial data on where your student lies on each Asset Category scale or to measure the efficacy of your program or intervention.

Since the DAP is self-scored, it is not always easy for us to get a sense of how people are using the survey. A quick look at existing DAP users tells me that the survey is used in a variety of different settings, including juvenile justice programs:

We here in Survey Services have been answering a lot of questions about the DAP lately. Stayed tuned for an in depth feature on this enigmatic entity!

Yours,
