Education Tools and Resources
The Institute has created a number of tools and resources you may find helpful in
incorporating asset building into educational settings.
- Print and Video Resources (Catalog) -
This links you with the education resources available in the Search
Institute catalog, where you will find a description of each.
- Training - Several training
opportunities are available for educators, including one that helps you
as a local educator provide additional training for others in your area
as part of your professional role.
- Surveys - Asset-building educators are
interested in the perspective of students with whom they work. Two new
Search Institute surveys will soon be available to complement the
information already accessible through the Search Institute Attitudes and Behaviors survey.
- Opportunities at the HC • HY Conference
- Each year Search Institute hosts a three-day conference in the fall
that brings together adults and young people from throughout the nation
and from several foreign countries. The themes vary, but the focus is
always how to increase the level and quality of asset building going on
in communities everywhere. Within the conference, a strand of sessions
is always designed to help educators promote assets in school
communities.
Articles and Reports
Researchers and
others at the Institute have created a number of articles and reports
that detail the research about Developmental Assets, community change,
and how each affects the other. Educators have found a number of these
useful in explaining the research behind the assets as well as in
advocating for incorporating the asset model into schools.
