Establishing a Formal Relationship

In some cases, communities or countries may choose to move forward with asset building in their setting without ongoing involvement from Search Institute. However, Search Institute is interested in maintaining a relationship with asset builders around the world so that these efforts can inform and strengthen our work. Below are some of the strategies that Search Institute could help to facilitate when momentum begins growing within a country:

  • Facilitate intergenerational group processes for developing a positive, shared vision for asset building within the country or context. (Processes would be developed jointly to ensure cultural compatibility.)

  • Conduct formal scientific research on Developmental Assets, including the use of culturally adapted research instruments.
  • Cultural adaptation and/or translation of research instruments and educational tools and resources from the United States that are deemed valuable and appropriate within a particular culture or context.
  • Development of local tools and services, including the technical assistance, training, communication infrastructure, and network building needed to support asset-building efforts in multiple communities or organizations.
  • If deemed culturally appropriate, a local organization can develop a formal relationship with Search Institute to become Search Institute’s authorized resource distributor of tools and resources in that country.
