Jostens Our Town Award-winning Communities
In 1999, Search Institute partnered with The Jostens Foundation to recognize
10 communities that had demonstrated exemplary asset-building strategies
and that had ambitious plans to move their work ahead. Healthy Communities
· Healthy Youth initiatives were invited to apply for an award and
grant program. The selection panels, which each year consisted of representatives
from Search Institute, Jostens and youth and adults from HC • HY initiatives,
were astounded by the variety and ingenuity of the proposals that were sent
in. Awards were made in the years 2000, 2001 and 2003. Each of the 10 community
initiatives selected received national recognition at the annual Healthy
Communities • Healthy Youth Conference, and a two year grant to move
