We know that young people’s capacity to persevere through difficulty and distraction is critical to their success in school and beyond. This is why last week we introduced one of our newest workshops, The Perseverance Process: Strategies for Strengthening Academic Motivation and Persistence.

Today, we invite you to participate in this day-long Perseverance Process workshop conducted by Search Institute President and CEO, Dr. Kent Pekel in the Twin Cities on August 14, 15, 19, or 20.

Register now >>

The Perseverance Process Workshop has two primary objectives:

    1) to help participants think about student motivation and persistence more intentionally, and
    2) to introduce participants to perseverance-strengthening strategies that have led to improved student outcomes in experimental studies and research.

The Perseverance Process incorporates those strategies into an actionable framework, the components of which are captured in the acronym STICK TO IT:

Share Sparks
Think forward, act now
Increase intelligence with effort
Create a sense of belonging
Keep moving through obstacles
Think about thinking
Organize life
Internalize regulation
Take stock and take pride

During the workshop, participants will:

  • Analyze the levels of motivation and persistence that young people in their district, school, or program demonstrate
  • Review a set of factors that studies have shown influence motivation and persistence
  • Explore the set of strategies for strengthening motivation and persistence that are captured through the acronym STICK TO IT
  • Brainstorm and share ideas for utilizing the STICK TO IT strategies in their schools
  • Create a plan for using the Perseverance Process Guidebook to continue working on motivation and persistence after the workshop

Participants in this exciting new workshop will receive the Perseverance Process Guidebook, a new Search Institute publication that will help you implement the strategies presented in the workshop in your classroom or program. The cost of participation in the Perseverance Process workshop is $285 per participant. Breakfast, lunch, and refreshments are included and CEUs are available.

A discounted hotel featuring transportation to and from the workshop is available to participants. Make your reservation now >>
