Professional Development & Training

Fostering caring, attentive teacher-student relationships is the core working dynamic of Building Assets Reducing Risks. That’s why staff development focuses not only on adopting specific new processes and structures in your school, but also on understanding the research-based underpinnings of the program: risk/protective prevention factors and Developmental Assets®.

Comprehensive Program Training

An intensive, two-day onsite training equips staff with the processes and structure to successfully implement Building Assets Reducing Risks. All forms, tools, and resources needed for implementation are included.

In addition to receiving in-depth background about the research, theoretical framework, and demonstrated outcomes behind the program, participants learn to:

  • teach the I-Time curriculum
  • identify and address the individual needs of each ninth grade student
  • integrate program strategies into existing academic content and school culture
  • increase parent engagement through an active parent advisory group and other strategies
  • forge and strengthen community partnerships

Beyond the onsite training, ongoing technical assistance for your program, along with monthly consultation from your Building Assets Reducing Risks specialist to monitor implementation and identify emerging outcomes.
