Buy the Change

Good morning from sunny (and continually cold) Minneapolis.

I’m going to venture a little bit off of education today to share a really cool website with you. Full disclosure: the three guys who run this business have been friends of mine since we were 7. However, if they were selling buckets of rusty nails or used socks I wouldn’t be suggesting them. So there’s still integrity here!

They’ve recently started a business called Buy the Change. As they describe it, it’s a site that offers “classifieds with a conscience.” Basically it’s sort of like craigslist, but instead of buying and selling with strangers, you join a neighborhood network. So instead of finding a random plumber, you can work with someone in your community. If you have some used rollerblades, why not sell them to someone you know and trust? It’s an amazing merger of social networking with commerce and community building.

This is another example that there are always options for how we go about doing our business and our daily lives. We can be haphazard and unintentional or we can actively seek ways to reach out and meet the people around us.

Kudos to Josh, Colin, and Zack for seeking change in the most positive ways possible.

For more information, here’s their Facebook page as well.
