Dear Survey Girl,
Hello from Alberta! My region wants to implement the assets and we thought surveying the students with the Attitudes and Behaviors would be a good start. The thing is, we’ve looked through the survey and a few of the choice options do not pertain to Canadian students. For example, we would say “First Nation” instead of “Native American” for race. How can we change the survey?
Sincerely,

Dear PROVINCE,
We recognize that the survey is most useful when it is culturally appropriate, so we do allow changes to be made in the wording of some questions or response options. Since actually changing and re-printing the survey is prohibitively time-consuming and expensive and writing or labeling changes on the survey itself would affect the scanning process, we recommend doing this is by including a “cheat sheet” with the survey explaining any changes to the response options or questions. If you do need to make cultural modifications or any other changes, please contact us first so we can ensure that the changes do not affect the quality of the data and we can work out any permissions, fees, etc. Also, if you’d like to see an example of a “cheat sheet” that we put together for a Canadian school, drop me an email and I’ll forward you a copy.
Yours,
